The batik at right that I painted long ago has recently been sold to a woman in Canada and in showing her small scratches on the frame, I managed to capture my own image and superimpose it on the Unicorn and Phoenix batik.
She replied, “How did you get this witch to appear in your photograph?” and I realized I had photographed my Halloween spirit in this batik painting. I hope you enjoy me flying in the window on my broomstick and joining my original batik, the Unicorn and Phoenix, which has recently made the trip to British Columbia, Canada.
Below are some images of batik that I find celebrate the Halloween spirit:
- The Ent Tree Forest, Black Riders Descend and Gandalf and Shadowfax, all inspired by the Lord of the Rings.
- Dragon Breathing Arrows over the Moon, which is inspired by my yoga practice.
- And Pan Calls the Moon from the Zebra’s Back, inspired by the full moon, from ages past.
- Also below, the full image of Unicorn and Phoenix.
I have still been dyeing some batik outside with my dye buckets, alternating from the rinse buckets to the porch. And occasionally I find myself lifting ice off the rinse pails.
Vanilla the llama supervises my every move and enjoys watching me as I get out to dye the batik in the pleasant afternoon sun of autumn.
so cool!
